With four categories to showcase all aspects of make-up artistry, now’s your chance to demonstrate your talent.
Entry fees are £20 per category, and winners and runners-up receive a handsome Warpaint trophy and certificate. Judges will be announced next week, so watch this space for further information. For more details click here and to enter, click here.
Special FX – NOTE this category has 5 hours to complete their look
Theme: Cartoon and Comic Book Characters
Take your creativity to another level and showcase your talents with this all-encompassing category. Inspiration can come from any country or decade.
Taking place over 5 hours, you’ll be judged on your use of Body Art, Prosthetics, Hair and Wigs, Costume and Styling, as well as Airbrushing and Freehand Techniques.
Judging criteria are: Interpretation, Design, Technique of Application, Colour and Overall Presentation.
Fashion
Theme: Spring/Summer 2014 Catwalk Trends
Put your own spin on the latest runway looks and create a trend that appeals to both Fashionistas and the High Street.
Take your influence from one of the Spring/Summer 2014 trends, adding your own new and innovative twist.
Your accompanying Mood Board that you’ll bring with you on the day will storyboard your inspiration and vision. You’ll be talking through this with the judges to walk them through your creation.
If you wish, you can accessorise your look to work in harmony with the professional range of products in your Pro MU kit. Let colour and creativity take the lead.
You’ll be judged on the visual impact from a distance, so think about audience reaction to your work. Create a theme that can run through an entire collection, not simply one outfit. Clearly demonstrate your signature style. Understand the impact of flash photography on your finished creation. Choose your model to reflect the catwalk category. Both male and female models are permitted. Style your model to complete your look, with carefully sourced clothing and great looking hair to reflect your creation.
Edit
Theme: Summer Holiday
Create the perfect editorial photographic look using your Pro MU skills. Application techniques, finish and final scrutiny are the key attributes here, make-up and airbrushing come into their own. In this category, beauty is in the eye of the beholder – your look need not reflect conventional beauty, it’s more important to withstand the scrutiny of close examination.
Show skills in blending and contouring, creating the illusion of perfect skin in this visual representation of the perfect summer break.
Choose your model wisely in terms of hair, skin and teeth. The final make-up will be photographed live as part of the judging process.
Real Beauty
Theme: My Best Friend’s Wedding
Aside from their own special day, it’s the one occasion when a woman needs to look their best. Your target client is real women, not professional models – style her to look and feel like the perfect guest. Sleek, flawless hair and elegant clothing enhance the beauty of the occasion.
Any age of model is permitted over the age of 16. Create a flawless, age-appropriate look, selecting products that work for her skin tone, eye and face shape. Application is key to produce a flawless finish that stands up to the beady eye of the wedding photographer.
You’ll be judged on your ability to bring out the potential of your subject, as well as your skills in application and technique. Before and After shots will be compared to gauge the full effect of the final look.
