The Style Stage at Clothes Show Live at Birmingham’s NEC was awash with talent this weekend, when our four category winners from the Warpaint competition at this year’s Professional Beauty North went head to head to battle it out to be crowned Clothes Show Live Emerging Make-Up Artist of Year 2013.
Our four winners from Fashion, Editorial, SFX and Real Beauty demonstrated their skills with looks chosen from the 1950s and were expertly compered on the live stage by the inimitable Caryn Franklin. Judges Sinead Buckley of Beauty by Blondie, Chloe Gamblin of Sparkle Box Studios and Eve Oxberry, editor of Professional Beauty magazine were hard pushed to select a winner from the pool of talent that was on show.
Meet the contestants and their models:
Natalie Proctor – winner of Real Beauty
Jodie Spencer – winner of SFX
Dee Hargreaves – winner of Fashion
Michelle Kerslake – winner of Editorial
After 60 minutes of prep backstage, the contestants had 90 minutes on stage with a live audience to create their individual takes on the 1950s. Each was interviewed by Caryn while they worked and explained their influences and inspirations.
Before the winner was announced, each model experienced a TV-style reveal live on stage.
Congratulations to winner Michelle Kerslake and her model Lauren who took home a handsome trophy, goodie bag and the title of Clothes Show Live Emerging Make-up Artist of the Year 2013. Michelle will also take part in a shoot with the Emerging Talent team.
All contestants win automatic entry into the category of their choice into our next Warpaint competition which returns in February at Professional Beauty London. Details of how to enter and the category themes will be available soon on the Professional Beauty website.
