Amanda Green, MUA and designer to some of the most famous faces on TV, has created intensive professional courses for anyone interested in learning the art of make-up. With more than 25 years’ experience in the media industry, Amanda has worked on a host of household names: Graham Norton, John Malkovich, Alicia Silverstone, Alesha Dixon, Ricky Gervais, Beverley Knight, John Barrowman, Jay Sean, Tom Jones, Isabella Rossellini, to name but a few.
Based in South East London, The Make-up Artist offers all levels of courses, whether you’re starting out in the industry or updating your skills. Ranging from 1 – 12 weeks, beginning with stage, brides, special FX, grooming for TV, vintage, fashion, wigs, facial hair, body make-up, Avant garde, Fantasy looks and prosthetics to intensive 12 week media training, you’ll be guided by tutors and speakers who are experienced working MUAs and designers from HD TV, film, theatre, fashion, advertising and music videos. Courses end with a professional photo shoot to help build your portfolio.
Fees start at £950 rising to £7,500 for the 10 week pro course with the longer courses, lace, wigs and prosthetics supported by Creative Skillset with bursaries available. The next course begins January 2014.
Tutors include Tricia Woolston, Louise Young, Lee Dinn, Bryony Blake, Jo Jenkins, Helen Speyer, Paul Haskel, Florence Carter, Lisa George, Celine Bopp and Sam Smart. You will learn the skills and techniques to equip you to work. On graduation, the school keeps in touch with any opportunities that might arise for work experience and where possible help graduates source and secure work. You could find yourself helping out backstage in a theatre, shadowing on a TV show, working with extras on a commercial, a photographic shoot, a film set, a fashion show, or assisting a designer on a music video, even assisting a wedding photographer by making sure the bride and her entourage are picture perfect.
