Next month we take our Warpaint make up competitions to another level. Our Professional Beauty North winners will be taking to an arena stage to battle it out in front of the public at the Clothes Show Live for the title ‘Emerging Make Up Artist of the Year 2013’ on Sunday December 8th at Birmingham’s NEC.
The winning MUA will take part as an assistant make-up artist in the official Clothes Show Live Bright Young Things 2014 photoshoot and their work from this shoot will be featured in a forthcoming issue of Professional Beauty magazine.
The lucky champion will also have the option to enter a category of their choice in the Warpaint Make-Up Competition at Professional Beauty London 2014 taking place on 23-24 February 2013 at London ExCeL.
As each of our four winners from Fashion, Editorial, SFX and Real Beauty will be demonstrating some very different influences, the theme chosen does not preference one discipline over another. It is the 1950s.
A decade that saw so much: a breath of fresh air after the austerity of the War Years, the 1950s brought us Dior’s New Look and Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday. It saw the rise of the Sci-Fi phenomenon with The Forbidden Planet as well master of suspense, Bela Lugosi, in Dracula. Classic Vogue and Harper’s covers featuring the images of Cecil Beaton and Norman Parkinson have become works of art in themselves. Our Queen was crowned, DNA discovered and Disneyland opened its doors for the first time, so we are hoping that we will see some truly inspirational work.
Our finalists will be judged on the visual impact from a distance as well as the fine detail of their work. The models styled to complete the look, with carefully sourced clothing and great looking hair.
Judging categories are: Interpretation of Brief, Design, Technique of Application, Colour, Body Art/Prosthetics, Hair and Wigs, Costume and Styling, Airbrushing/Freehand Techniques as well as Overall Presentation.
Head Judge is Professional Beauty’s very own Eve Oxberry. Floor judging will be undertaken by Chloe Gamblin, an experienced MUA, lecturer and founder of Sparkle Box Studios, and Sinead Buckley, pro MUA and hair stylist and blogger, Beauty by Blondie.
Set to be a spectacular display of make up wizardry, you can book tickets here.
